I made my oatmeal, turned on the Real Housewives of New York (don't judge, I.can't.stop), and grabbed my state of the art 2007 MacBook.
It's crazy how much less I use a computer now than even 2 years ago. I guess these smartphones really do the job.
Here's what happened next:
1. Stared at the screen (toggled back and forth from the T.V.)- 10 minutes
2. Realized I've already seen this episode, read a few articles on how to write a good blog- 20 minutes.
3. Googled how to change the background of my blog (When did I become this tech naive?)- 5 minutes
4. Changed my blog background (I think)- 40 minutes (hey, there's a lot of options!)
Here I am again. It's 12:19pm and I've written approx 150 words. Blogging is not as easy as I anticipated.
Focus.Focus.Focus.
Pick a topic. Be concise. Add Depth. Create a profound title.
AH, I think my blog is going to be a little underwhelming despite the grandiose plans, ideas, stories, etc. I have had planned.
Channelling my inner Sara Tedder Boehm (I love her inspiring, witty, feel good, make me smile blog) I'll answer the question to the title of this blog and try to give it some meaning.
In the summer of 2008, I interned in New York City. At the time, it was my lifelong dream and I was making things happen. I interned at Elizabeth Cotton (a luxury sleepwear company) and it was such an invaluable experience.
Let's back up. A month or so before I left for NYC, I began "hanging out" (am I getting that old? I can't even think of a synonym for what comes before exclusive dating!) with Matthew Washam. He was the funniest, most attentive, caring person that I had ever met. And he's hot. I was excited about the prospect, but even more excited about moving to New York!
After the first day at my new internship I made the trek back to 162 Stanton and these were waiting at my doorstep.
I was overwhelmed with giddiness.
And over 4 years later we have grown so much... and he still brings me flowers.
Hopefully this blog not unsimilar to my adventure in the big city and will be a great starting off point for a fruitful relationship.
whew, That conclusion only took me 20 minutes to write.
Here goes nothing.
In the meantime, if I have bored you to tears, check out Sara's blog that I mentioned earlier. I love it. And she is just so very cute.
